World Press Photo Exhibition
The world’s best photojournalism from 2018 graces the walls of the State Library of NSW with the return of the annual World Press Photo Exhibition 2019. Haunting and beautiful at once, the highly anticipated exhibition this year features more than 150 powerful and evocative images and photo stories from around the world (129 countries, to be exact). Among this year's winner are Australian photographers Chris McGrath (based in Istanbul), David Gray (based in Sydney) and Andrew Quilty (based in Afghanistan).
In honour of the event, the gallery opening hours have been extended to 8pm from Monday to Friday. The State Library of NSW is also presenting Friday Night Lates to coincide with the exhibition, inviting visitors to enjoy a series of free after-hours art and music events. The bar opens from 6pm.
