With autumn in full swing, it’s only a matter of time before Christmas carols play on your favorite radio station. Lucky for you, The Green Music Center in Rohnert Park is hosting a variety of musical performances to help you get into the holiday spirit. They have an impressive line-up performing in Weill Hall, with a splash of everything from Latin vibes to Celtic melodies. This eclectic lineup is sure to have you on your feet. DANÚ, AN EMERALD ISLE CHRISTMAS
The acclaimed Irish ensemble, Danú, brings the incredible sounds of the Emerald Isle to you. Get ready to hear timeless Celtic melody with instruments such as the fiddle, flutes, button accordion, percussion and pipes. The Irish musical experience would be incomplete without the performance of talented step-dancers so expect to marvel at their colorful dancing as well. This concert celebrates Christmas and the New Year all in one performance on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019 at 7:30 p.m.
SAN FRANCISCO GAY MEN’S CHORUS
The holiday season would be amiss without the traditional classics we all know and love. You and your family can enjoy those live with the merry renditions of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus. Together with special guests and live musicians, more than 150 men of the chorus will sing and dance their way into your hearts with holiday antics, carols and new surprises. Their 29th performance in Sonoma County will help benefit Face 2 Face, a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating AIDS/HIV in Sonoma County. SPANISH HARLEM ORCHESTRA
The three-time Grammy award-winning Salsa and Latin Jazz band, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, is a gift that keeps on giving. Now celebrating their 15th year, SHO, as they are known to fans, consists of 13 world-class musicians and vocalists who come together to create an unparalleled musical experience. The Green Music Center’s Summer at the Green 2019 comprises 12 performances at Weill Hall + Lawn, spanning the genres from pop and country, to jazz, bluegrass, R&B and more.
Green Music Center Executive Director Jacob Yarrow reflects, “Summer at the Green is always a unique experience, and this year may be our most exciting summer to date. The great musicians will combine with the beauty of Sonoma County for unforgettable concerts. We’re thrilled share this exciting summer of music, and to bring our region together through the shared joy of live performance.”
The Green Music Center is the performing arts presenter at Sonoma State University. During Summer months the rear wall of the 1,400-seat Weill Hall is fully opened to reveal the beautifully landscaped and terraced Weill Lawn. Seating is available both inside Weill Hall, and outdoors in table and lawn seating, taking full advantage of unparalleled views of the Sonoma mountains. Lawn patrons are encouraged to bring blankets and low-back folding chairs and to pack a picnic or enjoy on-site concessions during the concert.
For all summer performances, lawn tickets are $25 to the general public, and $12.50 for children ages 2-12.
