Phoenix for the Guys

The Valley of the Sun is the perfect destination for a man-cation. Whether escaping the ladies for a day or spending the weekend in Phoenix with the guys, there are plenty of things to do and see.

Begin the morning by challenging your legs along a steep trail to the summit of Camelback Mountain, then spin around a racetrack in a kart at Octane Raceway or a Corvette at Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Late afternoon is the perfect time to tour and taste locally brewed beers at Four Peaks Brewery or spirits by Lucidi Distilling Co. at Fire Station No. 1.—then head to a ballgame at Chase Field or play the tables at Casino Arizona.

Camelback Mountain

These are strenuous summit hikes, and they forever change hikers’ admiration of the “camel’s back” from anywhere in the Valley. The Cholla trail rises from a neighborhood of mansions near The Phoenician’s golf courses and becomes narrow, steep and rocky in some parts.

This interactive golf venue has three floors to swing from. Aim microchipped golf balls at colored targets throughout the range. Earn points when playing one of seven games, fit for pros and new players alike.

Cool Clubs

Have your swing measured in one of several private fitting bays. The putter-fitting studio utilizes motion analysis and eight cameras to capture stroke information, and a full-service production workshop is on-site where each custom club for the company's 14 locations is hand-built.

Boccieri Golf Research & Performance Center

Player consultations and product prescriptions in a 9,000-square-foot laboratory led by Ridgefield, Conn. transplant Stephen Boccieri, who designed a back-weighted heavy putter, heavy wedge and heavy driver. Fitting appointments can run 30 minutes to two days depending on depth of analysis; private lessons also available.
