Unique Cocktails in Phoenix and Scottsdale

The Valley's cocktail culture is booming. Here, some top creations.

From Cocktail Week celebrations to Bar Brawls to bartenders nabbing national awards, the local cocktail scene is continually being elevated and celebrated. We scoured the Valley for creative and top-notch sips to savor—though there were way too many for us to list.

At La Hacienda at Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, the drinks are on fire. Literally. Well, at least the famous Bebidas de Fuego—flaming coffees; six are on the menu. The server begins with Bacardi 151 and then caramelizes the glass—a cinnamon-sugar mixture creates big Instagram-worthy flames ($14). 7575 E. Princess Drive, 480.585.2694

Enjoy a bloody Mary with a twist at SanTan Brewing Company. The "SanTan Bacon Bloody Mary" is made with vodka steeped in house-smoked chipotle-rubbed bacon and topped with a float of Gordo stout, then garnished with a smoked chipotle salted rim and green onion ($5.75). 8 S. Those craving a martini should head to AZ/88, where the menu currently lists 17 varieties, ranging from the "House Classic" to the "English Garden"—they’re known to be the best martinis in town (prices vary). 7353 Scottsdale Mall, 480.994.5578

Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour has garnered numerous local and national awards for its creative drinks, and one favorite is the "Taste the Rainbow." Made with house-infused Kaffir lime gin and sloe gin packed with fresh lime, pineapple and strawberry and given a good shake to awaken the flavors, this candy shop drink is finished with rainbow dust ($12). 1 W. "Bitter Happiness" never tasted so good. At least, it does at Bitters, where the cocktail is made with El Silencio Espadin,—a mezcal—amaro, lime, grapefruit and orgeat syrup, a sweet syrup made from almonds, sugar, and rose water or orange flower water ($12). 1455 N. Scottsdale Road, 480.696.1184

Order the "Push It Real Good" cocktail at Market Street Kitchen, and you’ll be served a creation that includes rosé wine, rum, peach brandy, iced tea, lemon juice, sparkling wine, tea syrup and a variety of grilled and chopped fruits—in a French press. The press is then served along with glasses of ice ($24; serves 4). 20825 N. Pima Road, 480.278.7044
