The French capital's Palace and 5-star hotels know how to put on a show and for the festive season they are treating us to ephemeral spaces and special events to really feel the Christmas spirit.
The Royal Monceau has turned its patio into a makeshift funfair for adults with a traditional Christmas market. The Royal Marché features quaint chalets, twinkling lights and a gorgeous Christmas tree leading guests into a winter wonderland. A sparkling highlight at the Marché is the Veuve Clicquot Champagne tasting held in one of the snowcapped chalets.
Meanwhile, Paris’s iconic hotel, the Ritz, is setting up Le Chalet de Noël in the heart of the Place Vendôme. Here, you can soak in the Christmas spirit with a cup of hot chocolate and spice cake under the twinkling lights of the famous square, surrounded by the square's luxurious jewellery houses.
The 130 year-old Hilton Paris Opera hotel is showing off its splendid Belle Epoque home with a festive programme that includes concerts held in the hotel's Grand Salon. On the 10th and 12th of December the Salon will be hosting Total Praise Gospel, France's largest gospel choir.
And under the romantic arcades of Place des Vosges, the Pavillon de la Reine hotel has designed a warming Goûter de Noël, a high tea menu worthy of royalty. In the hotel's restaurant, Anne, sit down for an afternoon treat of mulled wine, Pannettone served with ice-cream, crème brûlée and pear stewed in wine served with spice bread.
For a more rugged evening out under the stars, head to the Grands Boulevards hotel where you will find the Winter Shed. Perched on the hotel's rooftop, overlooking the city, the Shed is dressed in Christmas decorations creating a festive atmosphere for all to enjoy hot chocolate and mulled wine in the crispy winter air.
