Can't Miss Orlando Events for August 2019

Celebrate summer's end with a great slate of events happening throughout the area.

Through September 1: Electric Ocean at SeaWorld Orlando. When the sun goes down, the park comes alive! Witness the excitement as SeaWorld Orlando transforms into an immersive undersea world that glows, entertains and excites. Families will enjoy a unique dance party at Club Sea Glow, featuring puppeteers, special acts and interactive entertainers. Special food and drink offerings entice you to snack the night away under the stars. The evening ends with a fireworks finale that includes synchronized water effects, breathtaking pyrotechnic displays and a laser show. The spectacle is included with theme park admission. 

August 10: Orlando Shakes Open House. Participate in sound and lighting demonstrations, hear snippets from potential upcoming shows, go behind the scenes in an exclusive backstage tour, get access to onetime-only discounts on tickets while kids can enjoy coloring, crafts and story time. 

Pride Flag

August 13-19: Orlando Gay Days. This huge celebration of all things LGBTQ attracts more than 150,000 visitors for a week of events throughout the City Beautiful. Head to the offcial host hotel, the Wyndham Orlando Resort on International Drive, to purchase tickets, attend the event’s expo and buy merchandise. Events include designated Red Shirt Days at many of the major theme parks, pool parties, Taste of Gay Days, pageants, competitions and more. 

Grape Stomp at Lakeridge Winery

August 17-18: Harvest Grape Stomp at Lakeridge Winery. It’s harvest season at Lake County’s premier vineyard, and everyone is invited to join the party! At this free, family-friendly event, enjoy live music, food, cornhole, complimentary winery tours and more as you help stomp newly harvested grapes.  

August 17-18: Florida Kids and Family Expo. Over 150 exhibitors provide adults the opportunity to discover resources, products and services to enrich family life while children create, play and collect free stuff, all in air-conditioned comfort.

August 23-25: Orlando Fall Home & Garden Show. Turn your home-and-garden dreams into reality with help from experts and exhibits featuring the latest in products and services—everything from builders and contractors to decks, pools, spas, entertainment systems, storage systems, plants, kitchenware and more. 

August 23-September 30: Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining. Satisfy your cravings for haute cuisine at reasonable prices during this five-week culinary promotion of the region’s best dining. More than 120 of Central Florida’s top restaurants feature three-course, prix fixe dinners for $35 each, with a dollar from each meal donated to a local charity. 

Storm Troopers

August 29: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. No longer in a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In this highly-anticipated, fully-immersive new land, visitors can fly the Millennium Falcon, build a custom lightsaber, design, assemble and activate a droid, and hobnob with all manner of creatures from throughout the universe. 

Couple at Epcot International Food and Wine Festival

Beginning August 29: Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Walt Disney World's 24th annual Epcot International Food and Wine Festival celebrates a record 83 days of noshing and sipping your way around the World. Thirty global marketplaces celebrate a diversity of flavors, from exotic to homegrown. Special events, grand tastings and culinary and beverage seminars round out the offerings. Interact with celebrity chefs at ticketed events throughout the festival, while nightly Eat to the Beat concerts offer a stellar host of musical talent. 

Strings and Things

August 30-September 2: Raglan Road’s Great Irish Hooley. This annual Labor Day tradition returns for the eighth year. Look forward to lively Irish music representing a wide range of genres. Plus, enjoy Irish step dancing, Irish food and drink, Celtic face-painting and more. This year’s musical lineup includes Billow Wood, Strings & Things, TradGad, High Time, Maca, and Stephen & Abby. Sláinte!
