With dazzling spring weather and longer days to enjoy all of that sunshine, April is a wonderful time to visit Orlando. Enjoy a whole host arts events, but make time to stop and smell the roses, strike a (yoga) pose and indulge in delicious street food flavors all month long! Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. It’s the most beautiful time of the year, as the event celebrates 26 years with more than 90 days for blooms, bands and bites. Fan favorites, such as the Goodness Garden Butterfly House, return, and guests can look forward to nightly Garden Rocks concerts, taking place three times each evening. Outdoor Kitchens bloom forth with seasonal flavors, and topiaries featuring your favorite Disney characters are scattered throughout the park. Weekends in April
Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld Orlando. Guests are invited to sip and sample their way around the world of international street food traditions every weekend. Live concerts take play at Bayside Stadium, and acts appearing this month include Better Than Ezra, Jay Leno and Collective Soul. For the full lineup, check out our story on this year’s festival.
Blueberries and Yoga. It’s blueberry season in Florida! Celebrate and find your zen with Sunrise Vinyasa Yoga at Southern Hills Farms in Clermont. Your $15 ticket snags you an hour-long class in the tranquil setting, plus a blueberry mimosa and a pound of u-pick berries.
Throughout the Month
Through April 21: Cirque du Soleil Luzia—A Waking Dream of Mexico. The Cirque du Soleil Big Top Experience comes to Orlando for the first time and invites audiences to enter an imaginary Mexico through a series of visual surprises and acrobatic performances.
April 5-14: UCF Celebrates the Arts. Don’t miss ten days of events focused on the various arts, hosted by the University at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. Highlights include a sculpture exhibit, a film night and “Thriving Through the Arts,” an interactive event that explores the intersection of art and wellness. Some events are free, while others require a small charge with reserved seating. Tickets are required.
April 12-21: Florida Film Festival. Over 180 films premiering the best in current, independent and international cinema, plus first-class events where film lovers can mingle with filmmakers and celebrities. The Oscar-qualifying event, which celebrates its 28th year, takes place at the Enzian Theater in Maitland.
April 16-21: Dear Evan Hanson. Enjoy a night out at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts with this contemporary musical, which tells the story of Evan Hansen, and the letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, and the life he never dreamed he could have.
April 23: The Spago Experience at Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill. Acclaimed celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck, brings his flagship restaurant, Spago, to Disney Springs for one unforgettable night. Dine on classic Spago dishes, including Smoked Salmon Pizza, Tuna Cones, and Chef Puck's famous Wienerschnitzel. The event staff will also include many of Puck's most talented chefs from his other restaurants, including CUT at the Rosewood and Wolfgang Puck American Grill. April 27: The Science of Wine. Have you ever wondered just exactly what it takes for humble grapes to transform into wine? Enjoy an evening oenological exploration as you learn about everything from the soil that nourish the vines, to the proper way to sip, swirl and savor the wine in your glass.
