Day Three of Star Wars Celebration
Easily the best exhibit at the convention, “The Mandalorian Experience” gave conventioneers a look at the sets, costumes and props from “The Mandalorian” and the “Book of Boba Fett.” We got a look at the exhibit as we covered the third day of the event as media. Guests had the chance to see various pieces used for filming, including many pieces that are still to be used for upcoming episodes. Highlights included the fully animatronic Bantha, a Tusken village, the cockpit of the Razor Crest and Din Djarin’s new ship with Grogu waving from his seat.
The third day of Star Wars Celebration started strong with a special ticketed breakfast boosted by Ashley Eckstein and Matt Lanter (the voices of Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker in the hit animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”).
"This is like what a weird dream would be like. 'I was in this room, and it was breakfast for some reason. And there were 150 Star Wars fans, and we were all just talking about Star Wars.' It's a cool dream," Lanter told fans during breakfast.
"This is a dream, and how cool that we get to do this!" Eckstein agreed. Ticketholders for the event (which took place Saturday morning and again on Sunday morning) were treated to a buffet breakfast, a Q&A session with Eckstein and Lanter, a photo op with the duo and exclusive merchandise.
The first panel of the day was the “Mando+” discussion with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. Surprise guests Pedro Pascal and Rosario Dawson wowed the crowds with unannounced appearances to discuss the upcoming season of “The Mandalorian” and the highly anticipated release of “Ahsoka.” The star of the show—the real Grogu used in the filming made his Star Wars Celebration debut. Pascal and Dawson later made appearances at the Star Wars Celebration Live Stage.
The Exhibit Hall was still packed with attendees looking for the latest Star Wars merchandise and exclusive convention pieces. Booths like the one for CITIZEN hosted unique photo opportunities and product debuts for Star Wars fans. Eric Horowitz, Managing Director at CITIZEN, told us, “It was CITIZEN’s first time ever at Star Wars Celebration, and the experience was beyond what we expected. The genuine excitement and love for the Star Wars franchise from fans who came to purchase a Citizen x Star Wars watch or just to visit our shop was electrifying. It was a great weekend for us…connecting with existing customers and introducing thousands of new customers to Citizen through our Star Wars collection. We look forward to next year!”
Not all of the action took place in the Exhibit Halls or panels. Cosplayers, costume clubs and fandom groups met outside around the Anaheim Convention Center for various meet-ups and gatherings. One of the largest gatherings was the “Ahsoka Lives in All of Us” Meet-Up featuring Ahsoka cosplayers, Ahsoka fans and the voice of Ahsoka Tano herself, Ashley Eckstein.
The largest day of the convention also brought out some of the best cosplayers of the convention since the Star Wars Cosplay Competition took place that day. Fans were spotted taking photos with a large, intricate General Grievous piece while Kit Fisto walked the Exhibit Hall in a massively elaborate headpiece. A T-Rex Clone Trooper and Sith Trooper breakdancer were also seen throughout the day.
