Pet-Friendly New York City: Brooklyn's Best Bars for You and Your Dog

Dog-Friendly Bars in Park Slope and Carroll Gardens

The hardest part about heading out for a drink with friends is the look your dog gives you as you head out the door. At these Park Slope and Carroll Gardens bars, you don't have to leave your best friend at home! Here are the best dog-friendly spots to grab a drink.

Strong Rope Brewery

The Strong Rope taproom in Gowanus and brewery in Red Hook have dog-friendly areas to grab a brew with your four-legged friends. Strong Rope is committed to using NY-based ingredients and has tight relationships with farmers throughout the state. Grain-to-glass brews include IPAs, blonde ales, hefeweizen and even a corn lager. If you can't choose just one beer, there are flight options available to help you mix it up.

Other Half Brewing

If you're sitting outdoors at Other Half Brewing, your pooch is welcome to join you. There are 20 beers on the draft here as well as bottles and cans to-go. Try the "Fabled Aquarium," a refreshing New England-style IPA. There are even six bottled beers that are available exclusively at the taproom. Each beer is an imperial double stout variation, and none of these exclusive bottlings are below 15%.

The Gate

Quality craft beer and a laid-back atmosphere are what you'll find at The Gate in Park Slope. This corner spot has an ample patio as well as additional street seating. Four-legged friends are welcome in any of the outdoor spaces. It serves more than 20 draft beers, five special bottles and seven craft cans. Some of the breweries represented include Left Hand, Founders, Victory and Two Roads. Monday-Friday from 3 p.m.-7 p.m., most brews are a dollar off for happy hour.

Pig Beach

Follow your nose to a spot that's smoking up incredible BBQ alongside craft cocktails and local beer and wine. Pig Beach is a vast outdoor space with tons of picnic tables. It's great for groups, and that includes dogs. The cocktail menu rotates with seasonality, so you'll always have a refreshing option that tastes just right. Order up pork shoulder straight from the smoker (and sneak a bite or two to your pup under the table) with an ice-cold margarita. The main area is first-come-first-served seating.

Lavender Lake

While dogs aren't allowed inside at Lavender Lake, they are allowed outside (people under 21 are also allowed outside if accompanied by an adult). This spot is excellent for craft cocktails, beer, wine and hard seltzer. The food menu is stacked with familiar bar favorites and even a few surprises like General Tso's cauliflower. Beat the heat with the daily frozen cocktail, and be sure to ask for a bowl of water for your dog.

Bar Toto

The wrap-around outdoor patio at Bar Toto is the perfect place to grab a quiet drink with your dog. The cocktail menu focuses on classics. Order up a negroni or a paper plane for a refreshing summertime sipper. There are five beers on tap and more available by the bottle and can. Stop by on the weekend for brunch cocktails like bellinis and shandies. Order the steak and eggs, and be sure to share your morning meal with your pup.
