As autumn rolls around, there is no better way to enjoy the cooler weather than hitting an outdoor bar with your favorite drinking buddies. While grabbing drinks on a sidewalk patio is pleasant, nothing beats sipping a glass of wine or cocktail at a rooftop bar.
New York Bars With the Most Intoxicating Views
Because New York is home to some of the tallest buildings in the world, a rooftop bar is the best way to enjoy the picturesque views of the city.
Westlight is on the 22nd floor of The William Vale in Brooklyn. It features 360-degree views of Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens with floor-to-ceiling windows encircling the central bar and lounge. Balcony seating for up to 100 people fills an impressive wrap-around balcony. The outdoor terrace is partly enclosed and features heaters during the winter months to keep guests warm, in addition to the 23rd-floor outdoor rooftop, which features private heated chalets surrounding Vale Rink, The William Vale's rooftop skating rink.
The dynamic beverage menu consists of handcrafted cocktails, rare spirits alongside a selection of beer and wine. If you're hungry, make sure to check out the food menu too. Global street food inspires the bites served such as the "Charred Octopus Skewers," "Spiced Chicken Empanadas," "Tempura Bass Buns" and "Duck Carnitas Tacos." Perfect for a sunset date night or a late-night get-together with friends, this stunning bar is truly a must-see.
Harriet's Rooftop & Lounge
Harriet's Rooftop & Lounge sits on the rooftop of 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge on the waterfront in Brooklyn Heights. The lounge has perfect views of Downtown Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, Ellis and Liberty Islands, the Seaport and the Brooklyn Bridge, to name just a few. If you can take your eyes off the stunning view, try the "Purple Haze," a popular signature cocktail featuring Prosecco, Grey Goose Pear, Lychee and Hibiscus.
If you are hungry, we recommend the Okonomiyaki-style "Tater Tots" and the "Lobster Bao," another customer favorite that has poached lobster, celery, tomato and Umami caviar. The bar can get crowded. Be sure to book a table in advance to ensure you don't miss out.
This elegant rooftop bar is the largest of its kind in New York City and has one of the best city views. Located on Fifth Avenue and 27th Street, guests at 230 Fifth can enjoy a close-up view of the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. The 22,000 square foot space serves as a bar, restaurant and event space, opening its doors for comedians and live musical performances.
The rooftop bar offers a selection of specialty cocktails, including frozen margaritas, mojitos and the "230 Mai Tai." 230 Fifth is open year-round, and on colder days, transparent, heated igloos are provided. Bar bites include burgers, hummus, salads, pizzas and fish and chips. If your sweet tooth kicks in, try the "Brownie Ice Cream Sundae" or "Red Velvet Cake."
Rooftop Reds is the most unique bar option on our list. Not only does it have a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline, but it is the world's first commercially viable rooftop vineyard. The winery produces 20 to 25 cases of wine per year. Rooftop Reds has beer and cocktails on the menu in addition to its extensive wine list. The environment is relaxed with plenty of seating available, hammocks and cornhole if you are interested in a game with your bar buddies.
Bar 54 New York
Bar 54 is located on the 54th floor of the Hyatt Centric in Times Square. It is the tallest rooftop bar in Times Square and offers a spectacular view of the Chrysler Building and lower Manhattan. Seating is available both inside and on the terrace. The bar menu consists of crafted cocktails, whiskeys, beers, wines and tasty bites. As the weather begins to cool, Bar 54 brings out igloos so guests can still enjoy the rooftop views.
Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar
Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar sits atop the Conrad Downtown Hotel and offers an outstanding view of both the New York and New Jersey skyline and the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor. We love the view, the name of the bar and most especially the signature drink, which features Mom & Icepops Boozy pops served in your choice of Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial, Prosecco or Prosecco on tap. Fun Boozy pop flavors include "Watermelon Smash," Strawberry Daquiri" and "Lemon Jasmine Collins." Culinary offerings include "Feta Sliders," "Mediterranean Style Pickled Selva Shrimp" and "Kettle Corn Popcorn."
