Phillips Seafood

If you’re flying out to Maryland from Newark, you can start your trip without leaving the airport! Phillips Seafood provides guests with Maryland-style seafood dishes that will taste as if you’re eating them along the water. They’re best known for their crab dishes, and you can have them prepared any way you like. Some of their standouts include their signature crab cakes, a variety of crab cake sandwiches to combine the flavors and their “Seafood Sampler” so you can have the full taste of the sea during your meal. Newark isn’t too far from New York City, the home of some of the best Italian restaurants in the country. If you want to take some of that flavor with you on your flight, stop into Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen. This takeout restaurant provides guests with their favorite New York-style Italian dishes. You can order a plate of classics for yourself, like spaghetti and meatballs or chicken parmesan, but their larger meals stand out. Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill

If you’re looking for something spicy to eat before your flight, step inside Salsarita’s Fresh Mexican Grill for some Mexican favorites. You’ll find plenty of standard dishes waiting for you on the menu, but you also have the option of being creative with your plate. They offer classic tacos, burritos and quesadillas, but they also have “Create Your Own” meals that let you pile on whatever flavors you like. Be sure to order one of their “Fiesta Packs” if you’re traveling with family so they can share and create their own Mexican feast while waiting at the gate.

If you’re waiting for your flight and have some time for a formal meal, take a seat at Piattino for an authentic Italian feast. This restaurant serves Italian favorites “with a modern twist,” making each dish more memorable than the last. You’ll find signature pasta and other entrees waiting for you on the menu, like lasagna and risotto, as well as stone fire pizzas with a variety of cheese, meat and vegetable toppings. If you’re looking to be surprised during each visit, make sure to order one of their daily specials so you can grab a bite of pasta and seafood dishes you won’t find anywhere else.

Garden State Diner

You wouldn’t expect to see a whole diner experience inside an airport, but Garden State Diner achieves precisely that. This restaurant is a sit-down diner complete with plush booths that’ll transport guests before they even step on the plane. They’re known for their variety of sandwiches, be it standard or triple-decker. Other diner standards can be found on their menu as well, such as wraps, milkshakes and even omelets prepared in different city styles like Las Vegas or Miami. Elvis fans can also find some of the King’s favorite dishes waiting for them as well, such as peanut butter and banana pancakes or french fries covered in Monterey jack cheese and chili.

Caps Beer Garden

If you want the perfect combination of a global meal and a delicious drink while you wait at your gate, look no further than Caps Beer Garden. They blend the fresh tastes of a sushi restaurant with the fun atmosphere of a bar in every dish. Their menu comes with classic rolls like a California or Dragon Roll as well as fish dishes like “Hirame” or “O Toro.” If sushi isn’t your style, you can also try one of their steak entrees, burgers or sandwiches to satisfy your hunger at your gate. Be sure to pair your meal with a glass of one of their drink options like a classic cocktail, martini or wine to create your new favorite airport dish.
