When was the last time we had a long weekend? Memorial Day? We’re due for a holiday and finally it’s come with Labor Day. Whether you want to eat ‘til you burst or just hang by the pool, there something for everyone to do throughout South Florida. Here are just a few of the things we’ve got on our schedule:
Groove to the Music
Get your weekend started in South Beach with a night of music and dancing. Head down below to the Delano’s elegant FDR lounge for its Notes from the Underground, but with a twist for Labor Day weekend: Italian DJ Lorenzo Dada and German DJ George Morel are scheduled to work the turntables and get everyone off their seats and on their feet all night. Can’t make it that night? The party continues on Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 pm to 5 am.

Get Your Grill On
Long holidays like Labor Day call for a day in the backyard with the grill cranking out hot dogs, burgers, and steaks. If you’re no grill master, Chef Dustin Ward at BLT Prime has your back. He’ll show you how to work your magic at the grill alongside a three-course tasting and handcrafted cocktail making. By the end of the day, you’ll know how to make a mean tuna tartare, grilled skirt steak and vegetables, and panna cotta with grilled peaches. Your guests on Monday won’t know what hit their taste buds! Aug. 30 at 2:30 pm, $50.

They say you can’t wear white after Labor Day, but like most things, those rules don’t apply in Miami. Throw all your all-white outfit and climb aboard the South Beach Lady yacht for a raucous all-night party as the boat traverses the water. DJ Prince and Snap will be providing music for the evening and with four floors with four bars, drinks will be flowing all night long. Aug. 30 from 11:30 pm to 4 am, $60

Hit the Pool
Entertaining guests can be stressful, so go to someone else’s party instead. At the W Fort Lauderdale’s famed swimming pool, lounge poolside or reserve a cabana while sipping on Grey Goose cocktails and Bacardi pitchers. The view of the Atlantic Ocean across A1A is unbeatable. Then, designer Noelle Vazzano will show off her latest designs with a fashion show, models strutting one and two-piece bathing suits with nods to the season’s latest styles. Sept. 1 noon to sunset, Free.
