NGV Winter Masterpieces 2019
The past, present and future of Chinese art collide at the 2019 iteration of National Gallery of Victoriaʼs “Winter Masterpieces” exhibition series. Building on showstopping past winter exhibitions that have included Vincent van Gogh, Edgar Degas and The Hermitage collection, this year the gallery welcomes Chinaʼs world-famous Terracotta Warriors, widely considered the eighth wonder of the world, alongside work from one of the countryʼs most exciting contemporary artists, Cai Guo-Qiang. More than 150 priceless historic artefacts are currently on display, while Guo-Qiangʼs “gunpowder drawings” and intricate ceramics line the gallery walls and hang suspended from its ceilings.
