Those that relax together, stay together, so we round up some of the best spa-for-two experiences in London.
Created by Sir Rocco Forte, Browns Hotel is one of London’s most luxurious places where you can lay your head, and lie back in glorious decadence. As the venue prides itself on its individuality, it’s no surprise to find that is the case in its spa. For Valentine’s Day, you can book the Together treatment where you can relax in a suite, enjoy an aromatherapy massage, facial and a glass of Champagne. While it's smaller than most spas, with only three treatment rooms, it compensates with its stylish décor. The treatment room for two is designed so that you can lay side by side. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the spa also uses its own Forte beauty products, which helps to make this a unique experience.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, London feels like a home away from home; on arrival you’ll replace your shoes with a pair of slippers as you step into a world of relaxation. The spa looks even better after its recent refurbishment following a fire.
For something special, treat yourself to the Oriental Suite Experience which includes a steam room and rain shower. Choose from Tian Quan (a personalised bathing treatment inspired by traditional Chinese medicine) or the Water Wellness (a bathing experience that uses heat, steam and mud, followed
by a massage).
The House of Elemis Day Spa, in Mayfair, has its own Penthouse, which feels more like a hotel room than a spa. Taking a more scientific approach to its treatments, its facials are some of the best in London – I love the technology that scans your face and looks at how you are ageing. The private suite can be booked for as little as two hours to the whole day and can be combined with a treatment; it also includes Champagne and strawberries.
The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is a Gothic gem with a church-like charm. Its spa is underground, ideal to escape the noise of the nearby busy station. Its glamorous, Moroccan-style facilities include a pool, Jacuzzi and steam room. The couple’s massages are the real draw. While you are in one room, you’re separated by a just panel – meaning you can talk, but not see each other. This month you can try its Pink Himalayan Retreat; it includes a back massage with a heart-shaped Himalayan hot salt rock and aromatherapy facial. Guests can also take home pink Himalayan massage stones and bath salts.
Two is, indeed, company.
