Lucia Carbines’s Las Vegas Favorites
WT: Where are you from, and how long have you lived in Las Vegas?
Carbines: I was born in New Zealand and lived in Australia since I was two years old. I have now lived in Vegas for four years.
WT: How did you get your start as a performer?
Carbines: I grew up dancing from a very young age, then started playing the violin and started busking/street performing at the age of 8. I always knew I loved performing and discovered the circus at the age of 13 and never looked back. I realized I’d found something I loved that I could also make a living from, so I dedicated myself to it.
WT: What is your favorite thing about living in Las Vegas?
Carbines: I’m an ocean baby, so I thought living in the desert would never agree with me. Although I still miss the ocean and go as often as I can. Vegas has grown on me. I love the community of circus artists here. I love how close it is to the outdoors, I often climb at Red Rock and hike at Mount Charleston.
WT: What is your favorite spot to bring visiting family and friends?
Carbines: Red Rock, Colorado river, then some of my favorite spots in the arts district downtown.
WT: If someone asks you for dinner recommendations in Las Vegas, what do you suggest?
Carbines: Hatchi, Pho Kim long, Jinya Ramen, Osaka.
WT: Where are some of your favorite places to go and things to do in Las Vegas on your day off?
Carbines: I’m generally getting outside and going on adventures on my days off. If I’m not training at my favorite martial arts gym in Vegas, K Star.
