Want to check out the party side of Las Vegas? Wynn Las Vegas concierge Ralph Carl Junio has been nearly 28 years in Las Vegas, and certainly has his finger on the pulse of what's hip and happening in the city. Here he shares some of his favorite spots to recommend to visitors in Las Vegas.
Tell me about one of your favorite places to send first-time Vegas visitors.
One of my favorite places to send first-time Vegas visitors to is the world-famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at the south end of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s one of those iconic sites of Las Vegas that you will need to visit at least once, and taking a picture with it makes for a great social media profile picture.
Tell me about your favorite hidden gem in Las Vegas.
When people think of Las Vegas they initially think of all of the glitz and glamour that the Las Vegas Strip has to offer. But what people don’t realize is that Las Vegas is home to some of the most relaxing and picturesque hikes at a national conservation area called Red Rock Canyon, located about 30 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. My favorite trail there is Calico Tanks, where at the peak of your hike you will have a panoramic view of the entire Las Vegas valley.
Where should I eat if I want to celebrate a special occasion? How hard is it to get a reservation while I’m in Las Vegas?
If you are looking for a memorable dining experience, I would recommend Costa Di Mare at the Wynn. What makes this restaurant so special is that they fly in fish and langoustines from the coastal waters of the Mediterranean on a daily basis. And, if you are looking to make your evening even more special, consider dining in one of the private cabanas outside. Also, make sure you say hello to the general manager, Elion; he’s the best. Since there is a limited amount of dining space outside, make sure you book well in advance to secure your reservation. Ask for me if you need any help.
I want to experience classic Las Vegas. Where do you recommend that I go?
Downtown Las Vegas is by far the best place to experience classic Las Vegas. From all of the historic hotels and casinos lining the Fremont Street Experience to the different exhibits such as the Mob Museum and the Neon Museum, you are certain to have a great time exploring the Downtown scene.
Where do you like to do some people-watching in Las Vegas?
If you are looking for some great people-watching, I would recommend going to the Bellagio Fountains. Not only are you bound to catch one of their fountain shows, but you will find some pretty interesting characters posted right in front. Make sure to have your camera ready and take lots of pictures.
What’s the must-see show in Las Vegas right now?
Le Reve, hands down. There is no wonder why it has been recently voted the No. 1 acrobatic show for the ninth consecutive year in a row; it’s everything you could want in a show. It has everything from aerial acrobatics, synchronized swimming, high dives, stunning choreography and elements of fire and water.
What tips do you give first-timers?
Do some research on Las Vegas before heading here and use all of your resources. Don’t be afraid to ask your concierge questions and make sure you ask them for the most recent WhereTraveler Magazine; it has information on everything from dining, shopping, entertainment, nightlife and so on.
Describe your perfect evening out in Las Vegas.
For me, a perfect night out would start out with dinner with a group of my best friends at Andrea’s at the Encore. Andrea’s is a fun place for social gatherings and features an Asian fusion menu where you will find everything from fishbowl-sized drinks, sushi, hot and cold plates to share, and some of the juiciest steaks. Our fun would continue by heading over to XS Nightclub also located at the Encore. XS is, without a doubt, the hottest nightclub in Las Vegas. They will always feature the biggest names in music such as Drake, the Chainsmokers, Kygo, Diplo and more.
