Chicago may not be the first place you choose to go when celebrating Thanksgiving, but you’ll always find a reason to celebrate there. The Windy City is home to a number of restaurants that welcome every guest, whether they’re on the water or in the heart of iconic neighborhoods. Several are open for the holiday this year, and they’re ready to serve you and your family a delicious Thanksgiving dinner you won’t find anywhere else. Check out these city restaurants and find your new favorite dish to enjoy with the ones you love.

Buca di Beppo

Buca di Beppo is open on Thanksgiving Day and serves a special Turkey Day menu from 10:30 a.m. To 8 p.m. A limited menu of the restaurant’s Italian classics is available as well. Thanksgiving Packages To Go are available hot or cold for pick up November 21-23 (cold) and November 23-24 (hot). Meals include sliced turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, Italian sausage stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, bread and butter, and pumpkin pie. Small pans feed three for $105, and large pans feed six for $192. Catering packages are also available. Details can be found here

The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant

This Thanksgiving, try a new way to dine when you visit the city by eating at The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant. This historic restaurant in South Loop is located inside an actual firehouse that still holds much of its style from the 1900s. The restaurant will bring its classic fashion into the modern age with its family-style Thanksgiving menu being served to customers. Guests can enjoy a roasted heritage turkey served with garlic-whipped potatoes and traditional stuffing, and you’ll also find sides big enough for the whole family to enjoy, such as candied sweet potatoes and a green bean casserole. Be sure to add a slice of pie to your meal to complete this firehouse feast. Prices for this dinner start at $65.

Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap

Jake Melnick's Corner Tap has specials for the holidays that include Thanksgiving on a Bun; a leftover-inspired burger made with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy and mashed potatoes on a brioche bun; and Pumpkin Spice Wings, with a special seasoning blend including ginger, nutmeg, pumpkin and chipotle. 

STK Steakhouse

The Thanksgiving meal at STK Steakhouse is an impressive display of traditional favorites with a modern twist. The set menu is priced at $64 per person for adults and $29 per person for children and comes with roasted free-range turkey, green beans, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry orange chutney. Save room for dessert—spiced pumpkin pie ($12 a slice). A special roasted free-range turkey dinner with spiced pumpkin pie is available for to-go at $128 for two (and $64 per person). Additional sides are available starting at $18 apiece.

Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab

If you’re looking for a true taste of Chicago favorites, you’ll find it at Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak Stone Crab. This restaurant near the North Side offers fresh seafood alongside prime steak entrees, but it’s trading the waterfront for the countryside this Thanksgiving. Enjoy a traditional sliced turkey breast with a leg and thigh confit, so you’ll have every part of the bird to enjoy. This feast also comes with classic sides, including stuffing, mashed potatoes and vegetables, and you can even top it off with a slice of pumpkin chiffon pie. Prices for this dinner start at $69.95.

Ambassador Chicago 

Ambassador Chicago has a special five-course Thanksgiving dinner this year for $68 per person. The menu includes Butternut Squash Soup, Roasted Potato and Green Bean Salad, Butter-Crusted Scallops, Turkey Roulade and Pumpkin Pie. Reservations can be made on OpenTable


If you’re craving some classic American tastes this holiday season, look no further than WoodWind in Streeterville. This restaurant offers beautiful sky-high views of Chicago along with a menu of New American fare that everyone can enjoy. It serves a three-course Thanksgiving feast complete with fresh spins on all of your favorite dishes. The highlight is their turkey medallions served with cranberry-cornbread stuffing, but you can also enjoy a fire-roasted ham or pan-seared branzino if you’re craving something different. The menu also comes with vegetable dishes to give your dinner a touch of style, such as pecan-glazed carrots or acorn squash salad. Prices for this dinner start at $75.

If you want a touch of European style with your American feast this Thanksgiving, stop into Bistronomic in Gold Coast. This American restaurant combines modern fare with French flavors, making every bite a culinary marvel. You’ll still be able to find your favorite dishes this Thanksgiving, but they might be a little fancier than usual. Enjoy its roasted farm turkey breast served with Hillside Orchards chestnut stuffing as well as elevated sides such as garlic pomme puree and glazed orange cranberries. Each meal can also be topped off with its daily specials straight from France, whether it’s a savory Velouté sauce or their homemade terrine. Prices for this meal start at $80.

Judson & Moore 

Judson & Moore in Avondale hosts a special happy hour to kick off the holiday weekend. “Black Wednesday” takes place Wednesday, November 23 and includes $5 whiskey flights that consist of all the distillery’s whiskeys. 

The Kitchen American Bistro 

The Kitchen American Bistro hosts a special Thanksgiving Dinner this year that includes a Welcome Board and selections like the Harvest Salad, Fire-Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque, Roasted Whole Turkey and Brown Butter & Caramelized Honey Pumpkin Pie. Dinner comes with a variety of sides, including rolls, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes and more. The meal is priced at $99.50 per adult and $45.50 per child. Artango Bar & Steakhouse

You wouldn’t normally expect to find the flavors of Argentina in your Thanksgiving dinner, but Artango Bar & Steakhouse wants to change that. This restaurant in Lincoln Square brings all of your favorite Latin flavors together to make every meal sizzle, and it’s bringing spice to the holidays. Take a bite of its Argentine-style “Turkey Matambre” as your main course, served with cream-mushroom sauce and seasonal vegetables. You won’t find the classic Thanksgiving sides here, as Artango switches up the menu with plates of empanadas, seafood platters and much more. With live Latin jazz playing throughout the day, this is a holiday feast you won’t want to miss. Prices for this dinner start at $75.

The Smith

There’s one restaurant in River North that’s celebrating all things turkey this Thanksgiving. The Smith serves elevated American fare with a menu of all of your favorite dishes. It’ll keep cooking the classics on Thanksgiving Day thanks to its holiday menu filled with a new way to celebrate. You have your choice of turkey entree waiting to enjoy with the family, whether it’s “Turkey Pot Pie,” a braised turkey drumstick or a whole roasted turkey breast. Pair your dish with a classic butternut squash soup or their “Pumpkin Cheesecake in a Jar” for dessert to have a different Thanksgiving dinner. Prices for this dinner start at $75.

The Godfrey

Enjoy a special Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet this year at I|O Godfrey inside The Godfrey Hotel from 11 a.n. To 6 p.m. The rooftop restaurant’s special feast includes turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, Brussels sprouts and cornbread alongside special selections like Huevos Rancheros and Smoked Salmon Salad. The restaurant also has carving stations with Grilled Salmon and Prime Rib. Make sure to save room for desserts like Tiramisu, Apple & Pear Crumble and Pumpkin Pie.
