Charlotte's Sensational Sushi

Two top spots where sushi lovers can get their fill of raw fish, seaweed and sake

The Queen City is known for its barbecue and Southern cuisine, but those who crave fish with a side of sake won’t have to look far to satisfy their sushi craving needs. Here are two of our favorite places for those who prefer chopsticks to forks.

SUKOSHI

Located in Bank of America Plaza, Sukoshi is designed to cater to those on the go with to-go friendly dining. That’s not to say that you can’t grab a seat at the sushi bar and enjoy a drink to pair with sushi rolls, bowls, salads and more—but they certainly understand those who need a quick bite before the next meeting. Download their custom app for even quicker service or come in and browse the menu while catching a glimpse of their talented sushi chefs at work.

O-KU SUSHI

Asian cuisine with a Southern approach, O-Ku Sushi—located just off the east/west station exit on the Charlotte Light Rail in Brookhill—has a variety of small plates and unique dishes to enjoy. Chef Michael Chanthavong prepares the freshest fish from around the world to combine with local sustainable sources to develop the perfect sushi taste. Options include the uni pasta with garlic ink cream, bacon and squid-ink pasta and the dragon roll with tempura shrimp, avocado, eel and eel sauce.
