Company’s Gardens

Running alongside Government Avenue are the peaceful Company’s Garden, situated on the site of Jan van Riebeeck’s original vegetable garden, created in 1652 to grow produce for settlers and ships bound for the East. It’s a popular spot with office workers at lunchtime. More than 70 historic trees have been labelled with a code to scan with smartphones for more information. A café in the garden serves cream teas. Open daily 7 am-7 pm (summer); 7 am-6 pm (winter).
