Where to Celebrate New Year's Eve in Berlin

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2017 and hello to 2018.

With food, friends, fizz, and, frankly, a rather frightening amount of fireworks on the streets, Berliners love to mark New Year’s Eve with plenty of fanfare. Known as Silvester, the night is one long celebration in Berlin, with plenty of options for partying well into the wee hours of 2018.

The mother of all celebrations is held at Brandenburg Gate, said to be one of the biggest outdoor New Year’s Eve celebrations in the world. Bundle up and join 1 million other fun-seekers for two kilometers of live music, DJs, dancing, food, drink, and a thrilling fireworks display.

Another outdoor spectacle, though an informal one, takes over Kreuzberg's Viktoriapark. With a 66-meter-high hill on one end, topped with a gothic memorial, the park provides a great view of the city as it veritably explodes in fireworks at the stroke of 12. Everyone is welcome to join in the amateur pyrotechnics as you’ll find fireworks for sale pretty much everywhere starting from the 29th. Don’t forget to bring along some Champagne.

If you prefer to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a touch of class, book a table at The Grand, a restaurant, bar, and club together under one elegant, stylish roof. Start the night with a deluxe four-course dinner, followed by a champagne toast at midnight and dancing until dawn. Golvet, the newest fine dining hotspot on the city’s gastronomy scene, is also pulling out all the stops to throw a Silvester bash. The five-course prix fixe meal includes wine pairings and amazing wraparound views over Potsdamer Platz. For even more dazzling views, the iconic TV Tower is once again throwing its popular New Year’s gala 63 stories up in the sky, with live entertainment, all-inclusive drinks and champagne, and an optional banquet buffet. Wherever you go, make sure to book early to avoid disappointment.

For party animals, there’s Silvester Ticket Berlin. One wristband grants access to a whopping eight different parties, use of bus and boat shuttles between the venues, and all-inclusive drinks all night long. With 26 dance floors and music styles for every taste, a memorable New Year’s Eve is guaranteed.
