When I was 18, I wrote a postcard to my grandmother from Austria, describing how I slept for free on the porch of a hostel in Innsbruck. While I wouldn't do that now, it's fun to reminisce about my backpacking days.

Yosemite Falls, Vernal Fall, Nevada Fall, Illilouette Falls, Sentinel Falls, Bridalveil Fall: Yosemite National Park is known as much for its spectacular waterfalls as it is for its enormous redwoods and massive walls of rock. The tallest of the falls is Yosemite Falls, which the National Park Service measures out at 2,525 feet tall.

Foreboding as it once was when it served as a maximum-security facility, today it's an icon of San Francisco and one of the city's most popular attractions for visitors.
