San Francisco Attractions, Tours+Transportation: The Flag House

The Flag House

This house is one of several Russian Hill buildings to survive the 1906 earthquake and fire. It was donned the Flag House because the owner’s flag collector, fearing its demise, wanted it to burn “with all flags flying.” It is surrounded by several California shingle-style homes designed by architect Willis Polk.
